PSA: If not for you.....do it for them

I've heard some cynics say that they don't vote because they feel that their votes don't count. I wholeheartedly disagree with this, and I'd like to put another thought out there for everyone to ponder.

If you don't feel that your vote matters, well, it matters to the hundreds of thousands of Active duty military men and women, our National Guard and Reservists. Because while some folks may ponder whether it's worth voting or not, our soldiers are serving our nation to protect YOUR right to vote.

If you don't think your vote counts as far as the politicians are concerned.... well, it does count to someone. It counts to that young man or woman standing watch in Afghanistan, Iraq, Korea, in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, and even in rural Montana, North Dakota and Wyoming. They are continuing to stand watch so you will have your chance to cast your vote on November 4th. They're the ones who are making sacrifices for you. Their families are making sacrifices for you.

So, if anything.... do it for them. Please make an effort to vote on November 4th.

Hi Ethel... I wholeheartly agree. I'm from the UK, and I have always voted... Here in scotland my MP has always been Labour, and it could be said there is not point in voting... how wrong, as you say our armed forces fight now and in the past ( just look at WWI and WWII) so we had the right to speak our minds.

Across here they run an ad campaign saying that you can't complain if you don't vote... whither you agree or disagree with who wins, or what policies they persue, if you haven't voted in the first place, you can't complain - but plenty do. And also remember the choice you make next Tuesday has an effect on the whole world... not just in the USA! Although I don't know who I would vote for if I were in your place. Good luck.

Well stated, Ethel! Voting DOES matter and it is not only a right, I believe it is also our civic obligation to do so.

Thanks for your PSA. Well said and important too!

what about the computerized machines that might be hacked or changed your vote?? it has happenedbefore. they need safer machines and people who are more trusting to make them and run them. them I would agree my vote would count I think.

I voted on Wednesday and mailed in my absentee ballot. This is one of the most important elections of my lifetime. I wouldn't miss it for the world. I agree with Jennifer, it should be a civic obligation. Having said that, have you seen the 8 hour long wait lines for voting. Insanity. There has to be an easier way.
