Here are the cards! The magazine is due to hit newstands tomorrow! It's already popped up at Barnes and Noble and Borders; but I think Michael's, Joanns and Hobby Lobby waits until March to put it on their displays. To celebrate...I'm hosting a little "contest." Please share with me why you like vintage images and vintage cards. I'm not announcing what the prize is, yet, only to say that if you're a true fan of vintage, you'll like it very much. I'll post who the winner is on Saturday morning!
The first card (above) is called "Play." Stamp Credits: EK Success, Stampers Anonymous

These are all just wonderful Ethel! I'm so glad you gave us a sneak peek! :) Congratulations!
Wow Ethel,
Your cards are all so stunning!
I love vintage photos because they all seem to have a story to tell..You can look at an image and wonder what the person was thinking and feeling.
I have a vintage picture of a family in my dining room...the frame is ornate and the people are doing strange things. Everyone that comes to my house ask who they are. We are not really sure...since we found the picture in the attic of our house...which is the house that my DH grew up in. His Mom is not she if she bought the picture for the frame or if they are family.lol

Hi Ethel,
Wowie! Your cards are amazing as always. I'm drawn to all things vintage because they gives me the feeling of visiting with my grandma and looking through old photos in the shoebox she keeps them in. So many vintage things remind me of my dear departed great grandmother's home. One of my favorite pastimes is go treasure hunting for vintage goodies such as aprons & purses. It's that warm fuzzy safe grandma's house feeling that I love about vintage things.

Hi Ethel! I love those cards... Congratulations! You never fail to inspire me.
I love vintage things and vintage photos because of the sense of nostalgia and thoughts of "days gone by" that come over me. Remember the 6 custom scrapbook albums that I did last year? I was so engrossed in just looking at the photos that it took me twice as long as it normally would to scrap them. The pages had to be ever so special... a tribute to those in the photos.
And this may sound a little odd, but I feel a pull or a tug inside of me when I hold a vintage photo and anything antique in my hands... a yearning of some sort. I can't put my finger on it. All I know is that I feel sad, nostalgic, curious, drawn... all at the same time.
Ethel,
Wow, your cards are truly amazing. I love everything vintage because I can take myself away from my troubles for just a little bit and imagine what it must have been like then. I truly belive that at another time Imust have lived back then.lol
I mean I look at a picture and imagine that I am that person kwim?
I just wanted to stop by and tell you how amazing your work is. you are truly an amazing artist.
Thank you for sharing your talent.

p.s thank you again for the four lovely ladies stamps. I am having a ball with them.
Wickedly beautifully FABULOUS Ethel! CONGRATULATIONS!! They are just so pub-worthy!
I love vintage because if I'd been born in another time it would have been 100 years ago. I specfically love the Victorian Era, named after Queen Victoria. The time of living w/o modern medicine, electricity or cars intrigues me!

Ethel, I love "Play" and "Joy of Discovery"!! They are all wonderful, but those two really caught my eye. As to why I love vintage images, that would be because while I am looking at something new (its not a canned image that is trendsetting that you see everywhere), its also something that has a story to tell. And not only does it have a story to tell, it is one that is in its own words, not just the words of a company or one artist, but something from inside that evokes a tale. Oh this may all sound silly, but when I read this entry and saw your images, I flashed back to an assignment I had in college freshman english......you looked at an old B&W pic and then wrote a story about it. I still remember the story I told of this old pic of a woman's bedroom....down to every last detail. And the thing is, that picture evoked a whole feeling, image, and story in my head just from the shot itself. Ugh. I know I'm not explaining it well, but it really struck a cord with me. Not enough time or space to tell the whole shebang here, but my point is that with a vintage image, there is something behind it, something untold and by utilizing it within an art piece you are communicating a story with it.

Oh, Ethel! Your cards are just wonderful! I *so* love your style. Congratulations to you on your publication success.
Love all your cards. I love Vintage anything. I sommetimes feel I was born 100 years late. I look at a vintage photo and its takes me back to where they were in the picture. I see myself in that wonderful dress with the wonderful hats and gloves. Yep, I become very posessive of all those things old and dear to me. Sounds crazy, but maybe it lets me live in that world that I missed. Glinda
very pretty!
Your cards are amazing! Congratulations!
I like vintage because the distress look appeals to me and the feeling that since they are vintage, no two are alike :) You have to take whatyou get from the flea market!
Congratulations on having your cards published Ethel!! You work is amazing and you really deserve to be published!! I can't wait to see more of your cards in the magazines!
Now for your vintage contest. It's so hard to explain how I feel when I look and touch vintage items. It's almost a kind of sadness and wonder that washes over me. I am very curious by nature and want to know what people are thinking, why they are feeling that way, and when I see a vintage photo, I know that I will never have the opportunity to find out? There are just so many stories to be told. Then we have to think up our own stories, but that can be fun too! I have always been told I am living in the wrong time...lol..I love the styles of the clothes they used to wear, and often wonder why they never smiled in the really old photos! lol I best stop now before this turns into a novel!
Have a great day!
Kim
You really are the queen of vintage. Your cards are amazing. I also like vintage because I'm an old sole (inherited that from my dad). It's hard to explain exactly why I love it but I can say it makes me "happy" when I see vintage cards, altered items, etc. I altered an old suitcase and it turned out great. Saturdays are often spent at an auctioner's junk store where I am on my hands and knees under the table looking for good junk. Lucky for me, I have lots of old black & white photos which I use in my work. It beats the prices that serious vintage sellers ask for. I guess I like vintage because I appreciate the hard life that was bestowed on people and love the way we use those items for our cards to lighten the atmosphere of those serious faces. Thanks for the opportunity to win a prize.
Congrats on being published!!!
Ethel these cards are true beauties. So happy for you that they got published - so many other people can get inspired that way!!
You have a great feel with vintage.
