More Sugar Nellie stamping

I'm so glad I found time to stamp this weekend. We got home around seven yesterday evening, and I've been doing laundry and just trying to recoup from our short vacation, ever since. I won't post any pictures up, just yet. I want to make a CD out of the pictures before I create a post about our entire trip. This card was created for a swap I'm in. The stamps I used are from the Sugar Nellies line (Pickin' Apples); Papertrey's Faux Ribbon set (to create the striped background); and Stampin Up's One of a Kind set (the floral background). I also used a Threading Water punch (Fiskars); a Sizzix die, Nestabilities rectangle die (used two rectangles to create a giant rectangle) and a floral punch by Stampin Up. She's colored with prismacolor pencils; and I added a little bling here and there. Thanks for stopping by!

Sugar Nellie Saturday

I hope you are having a wonderful weekend. We've been out and about, going to watch fireworks at the lake, meeting with old friends from California, and I carved out some time to work on some swaps cards. The main image that I used on the first card is from the Sugar Nellie line. You can order her from Funkykits.com. The illustrator of this wonderful Sweet N Sassy image is none other than Australian illustrator Elisabeth Bell. On the first card, I also used stamps by Autumn Leaves, Heidi Grace and High Hopes rubber stamps.
The second card uses an image I purchased from the Stamping Cottage.com. I colored the cute gal with COPIC markers and Prismacolor pencils. On the second card, I used a Stampin Up stamp (Riveting.) This cute little lady was conjured up by Canadian illustrator Rachelle Anne Miller, and is colored using COPIC markers. A quick Sugar Nellie card while I fix dinner this evening.

While I was letting my dinner simmer on the stove, I decided to knock out a quick "thank you" card. The image is from the Sugar Nellies line; and the artist is Elisabeth Bell. Isn't she cute? The sentiment is by Stampin Up. I am hoping to carve out more time this weekend to create, since I haven't stamped anything in two weeks. Ciao for now!

It's been a beary wonderful weekend!

You know how it goes. You get a new stamp or several new stamp sets, and you can't wait to dive into creating something wonderful with them. Those stamps may arrive during the week, as they did in my case. And, your mind starts to form ideas on the projects you want to create. I couldn't wait until this weekend to come. I'm obssesswd with teddy bears, latey. Can you tell? I recently purchased Stampin Up's Beary Best, Bear Necessities, Favorite Teddy Bear and Button Bear from two sources (eBay and Splitcoaststampers.) Let me tell you....You have to be QUICK! These sets are rare to come by, so you have to really look and be ready to make an offer. I told my husband on Friday that I needed to carve out some time to simply create, this weekend. I haven't been able to stamp (like really stamp) in such a long time. Usually, I stamp on the fly..... in between long hours at work, household chorse, fixing meals, doing laundry, etc. etc. Same story for you? Well, here's what I came up with over the weekend.....and the weekend isn't over yet (this is the best part!)

This first card uses a cute little bear stamp from Beary Best. I punched him out with a circle punch, and then layered him over a scalloped circle (Stampin Up). The background was created using a stamp from the SU Boho Background set; and a couple of stripe stamps from PaperTrey Ink's faux ribbon set. The sentiment is also from the faux ribbon set. Add the prima flowers (of which I have hundreds of, and really have to be creative in using them without looking like I'm trying to use them up).

This next card uses stamp from Stampin Up's Favorite Teddy Bear set. I colored this cutie with prismacolor pencils. The bear looks like a 'he' bear on the stamp. I wanted a 'she' bear, so I added a little bow on her head. Again, trying to use up my stash of papers and primas. The centers of the primas are bead spacers, not brads. I added pop dots beneath her to give her dimension. You can't really see it in the photograph, but I also added glitter to the flowers.

A new lss opened in town this week (hip, hip hooray!) and I found this fun and funky floral paper, there. The striped paper on the bottom half is by Anna Griffin, and I've had it for so long, I really needed to use it up. The cute bear is from the Beary Best set. The sentiment is by Catslife Press. Added some brads to give it some 'pop.' She was colored with COPIC markers.

And finally, I made another card (see the next post, below) using this cute Button Bear image; but felt this time, he needed to hold a flower, instead. I used pop dots beneath the sunflower to give it dimension. He is colored with COPIC makers, also. Sentiment stamp is by The Angel Company. A little stitching around the image...and voila! He's done!

Pop-up card. Hello Spring!

My crocuses are peaking out from under some ground cover. The weather isn't warm enough to be outside for too long, otherwise, I would be out there, today, cleaning up some of the dead foliage that's covering some of my flower beds. But, when the crocus start to bloom, it won't be too long before we will begin to see the dwarf irises, tulips, daffodils, and periwinkle making their appearance.

Today, I made a pop-up card. It's been a long time since I'd made one of these. More than anything, I must've used eight different paper punches to make this card. Everything from various sizes of circle punches to my Stampin Up scalloped punch and slit punch. Happy Spring to you!

Magnolia: My first cards using these cute images.... and has Ethel moved over to the "dark" side?

These are my first cards using Magnolia stamps. They are designed and made in Sweden, and the only way I've been able to find them is to order them online through sources in the UK. OK. Well, some of you may be wondering, "What the heck has gotten into this girl? We thought she was all into vintage and weird stuff? Why is she showing us all of these cutesy cards?" Well, just before the New Year, I made a resolution to quit making cards to please everybody else. What it boils down to is this. I stamp because I enjoy it. I don't stamp because I want someone else to enjoy it. Does this make sense? Yes, yes, yes, we do create cards to give to others. But, I have found that I loathe, dislike, do not enjoy the creative process when, in the back of my mind, I'm always thinking, "Will so-and-so like this card? I hope they like this card. I'd better do this [insert technique, style, colors, add embellishments here] because so-and-so is really into that." I think this defeats the enjoyment and the purpose for why I rubber stamp and create cards. I hope you're following me here, because I've gone down the deep-end. Well, you'll be seeing LOTS more of these cutesy images. But, once in awhile, I'll delve back into my love for vintage and for all things eclectic. Everything you see on this blog is a different facet of me. And, right now, you're seeing the side of me that is more light-hearted and...as always...just wants to have fun!

Trifold Birthday Card

I have a coworker whose birthday is coming up, so I thought I'd create a card for her. The stamp is by Whipper Snapper and the paper is by Rob & Bob Studio. As you can probably tell, I used Prismacolor pencils and Gamsol Odorless Mineral Spirits to color in and around the cake.


I learned how to create this card by using a template on the Splitcoaststampers website.
